Why bathing on stranger’s pond restricted those days?
During olden days it’s been told that one should not take bath in a stranger’s pond because of the fact that the quarter part of the effect of sins done by the owner of the pond would be suffered by the person who took bath. Sounds silly? Yes it’s not the true reason. In mediocre periods, every habit is followed with a reason but without knowing it. The above fact is followed just to intimidate the strangers to avoid themselves bathing in some stranger’s pond. In the olden days itself it’s been found that many of the diseases are water borne. So to avoid the unwanted diseases it’s been told as a restriction to bath in a stranger’s pond. Another reason is to avoid a stranger disturbing a person by bathing in his pond.
Oil should not be applied after taking a full body bath…..Do you know why?
A full body bath is nothing but taking bath including your head. It’s been told in the manusmriti which is regarded as the rules and regulations of life of the olden days, that one should not apply oil in any part of his/her body after taking a full body bath. If we apply oil on our body, massaging takes place without our knowledge. Even in the olden days people are aware of the fact that the malfunctioning of a part of the body is because of the lack of blood to that part of the body. Moreover sweating after application of oil is harmful to health. The pores on the surface of the human body would be in the closed condition after the application of the oil. Thus it prevents the sweat and dirt inside the body not to get expelled. If the oil application is done after taking full body bath then sweating didn’t take place which makes some waste to lie inside the human body. This is the time to know one more fact. All oils suitable to be applied for hair is suitable for application on human body too. But the converse is not applicable.
